Components of High-Voltage Switchgear

High-Voltage switchgear has functions such as overhead line in and out, cable in and out, busbar interconnection, etc. It is mainly applicable to various places such as power plants, substations, petrochemicals, metallurgical rolling mills, light industry textiles, factories, mines, residential areas, high-rise buildings, etc.

Components of high-voltage switchgear:

The switchgear should meet the relevant requirements of the “AC Metal-Enclosed Switchgear Standard” and is composed of two main parts: the cabinet and the circuit breaker. The cabinet consists of a shell, electrical components (including insulation components), various mechanisms, secondary terminals, and connections.

Materials

  1. Cold-rolled steel plate or angle steel (used for welded cabinets);
  2. Aluminum-zinc steel plate or galvanized steel plate (used for assembled cabinets).
  3. Stainless steel plate (non-magnetic).
  4. Aluminum plate (non-magnetic).
  5. Functional Units of the Cabinet
  6. Main Busbar Chamber (generally arranged in a “品” shape or “1” shape structure)
  7. Circuit Breaker Chamber
  8. Cable Chamber
  9. Relay and Instrument Chamber
  10. Small Busbar Chamber on the Cabinet Top

Electrical components

Common primary electrical components (main circuit devices) used in the cabinet include the following devices:

  1. Current transformer, abbreviated as CT (e.g., LZZBJ9-10)
  2. Voltage transformer, abbreviated as PT (e.g., JDZJ-10)
  3. Grounding switch (e.g., JN15-12)
  4. Surge arrester (capacitance absorber), such as HY5WS single-phase type; TBP, JBP combination type
  5. Isolation switch, such as GN19-12, GN30-12, GN25-12
  6. High-voltage circuit breaker, such as oil-immersed type (S), vacuum type (Z), SF6 type (L)
  7. High-voltage contactor, such as JCZ3-10D/400A type
  8. High-voltage fuse, such as RN2-12, XRNP-12, RN1-12
  9. Transformer, such as SC(L) series dry-type transformer, S series oil-immersed transformer
  10. High-voltage live display, such as DXN-Q type, DXN-T type
  11. Insulation components, such as wall-through casing, contact box, insulator, insulation heat-shrinkable (cold-shrink) sheath
  12. High-voltage reactor, such as series-connected type: CKSC and starting motor type: QKSG
  13. Load switch, such as FN26-12(L), FN16-12(Z)
  14. High-voltage single-phase parallel capacitor, such as BFF12-30-1, and so on

Common secondary elements (also known as secondary equipment or auxiliary equipment, which refers to low-voltage devices for monitoring, control, measurement, adjustment, and protection of primary equipment) in the cabinet include the following devices:

  • Power meter
  • Relays, energy meters, current meters, voltage meters, power meters, power factor meters, frequency meters, fuses, air switches, transfer switches, signal lights, resistors, buttons, microcomputer integrated protection devices, etc.
